May 6th - FOOTBALLS COMING HOME

An outstanding performance by the entire team sealed victory for the Under12's in a gripping game with Naphill. 2 -1 down going in at half time the boys rallied and, thanks to a Steven Douglas goal drew level mid way into the second half. Knowing a draw would only see them in second place the boys threw everything at the Naphill goal in a desperate attempt to finish as champions. Naphill defended valiantly and the goalkeeper pulled off a string of superb saves. As both teams tired it was obvious it was going to take something special to bring the championship to GDL, and so it was with just 10 mins to go a stunning 20yrd strike by Zac Beckles put the team ahead for the first time. With minutes to go a second goal for James Druce ensured there was no way back for Naphill and the championship was on its way to Flackwell Heath. What a great bunch of lads, promoted last year, promotion this year as league champions. A fantastic achievement in two years of 11 a side football!!!!!

The Under 12 team play in the Wycombe and South Bucks Minor Football League and are currently in Division 3 after winning Promotion last season.

The squad trains at the Straight Bit in Flackwell Heath between 6pm - 7:30pm every Thursday.

The Team is run by two very enthusiastic coaches, in Andrew Higgins and Seb Knowles. Both have a great history with the club, as they were apart of the famous Colts team that progressed from Division 4 all the way to Division 1, so promotion campaigns is something these two are familiar with. A special mention goes to Andy as he has been at the club for nearly 13 years now, whereas Seb joined us from Wycombe as an Under 11. Both coaches for their age, have vast amounts of experiance and qualifications, with Seb coaching at local schools, for Wycombe Wanderers and of course as Assistant Manager with Flackwell. In their team they have created a creat fun family atmosphere which is clearly evident on the pitch especaially as results come as part of a team effort. Please contact Andrew Higgins, Under 12 Team Manager for further information at jja.higgins@btopenworld.com or Seb Knowles sebastian238@aol.com
